for VOGUE NIPPON

nendo's contribution to a Vogue Nippon special project in which designers customize luxury brand handbags. Standard opinion says that a luxury brand's logo, details and materials are its "face," its lifeblood, but is this really true? We decided to test the theorem by making a mask that would completely hide the "face" of luxury brand bags. Our hypothesis was that masking the bags would let their hitherto-unseen assets shine forth, revealing the true strength of a brand. The design makes us want to peek at the face behind the mask, and asks us to rediscover the essence of a brand.
