PUMA soccer ball

2008.09

for PUMA 'peace one day'

The United Nations has adopted September 21 as Peace One Day, an annual "day of global ceasefire and non-violence".
To mark the day, sporting goods maker PUMA International pledged to make new footballs in collaboration with participating football players from a number of nations.
Footballs (soccer balls to Americans) are made by stitching together multiple pieces of material. Nendo's design for a Peace One Day football sews together pieces printed with traditional textile patterns from the players' home countries into the image of the earth to send the message that humanity, too, must respect cultural and historical differences while living together as one.
